A car drives along Highway 21 as a pair of fishermen cast their lines on the Boise River below, Monday, Nov. 5, 2018. Boise Parks and Recreation has earmarked a sliver of the foothills levy revenue to be used for projects to improve the environment, including adding a series of paths and bridges in a 20-acre area along the river near Warms Springs Avenue.

BOISE — A new bridge will be coming to Highway 21 in the Boise foothills, but it won’t be for cars.

On Tuesday, Boise City Council unanimously approved the use of $40,000 of Open Space and Clean Water Levy funds approved by voters in 2015 to help fund the construction of a wildlife bridge to help animals cross Highway 21 safely.
