For a good view of what's left today on the top half of that Sanborn map, check out season 6, episode 20 of NCIS, "Dead Reckoning". The press building (built in the late 1940s) was torn down in anticipation of residential towers that were never built, and the construction site scenes early in the episode were shot there. At the end of the ep, the final shootout scene was filmed in the alley/driveway between the Herald-Examiner building and the office building next door - marked Wiggins St. on the Sanborn map.
There's also a totally awesome scene where Ziva shoots two intruders coming in through two different doors at the same time.
