I'm a former Michigander living in Portland the last 5+ years. There was going to be a new tallest at the old Hudson's Department Store site downtown, but it's gone through several permutations at this point. Still, we're looking at what is to be a new tower likely to be nearly 700' feet tall in the heart of the city:

They're working on the foundation now. It might be wishful thinking, but I'm hoping this Ritz project is somewhat in sync with the former Hudson's site to watch two of my favorite cities grow at the same time.
