I thought that's why some families sent their kids to a Military Academy, because they were problem children and not happy or normal...?

The Clark Gable photo could be at Ridgewood, but finding any photos of that place isn't particularly welcoming, heh!

The closest I came is because it happened to be in a shot of a GemCo store.

In the original information would "an invitation from a friend to see the motorcycle hill climbs" perhaps be at "Chalk Hill?"

Is that the outline of "Chalk Hill" in the background of the Gable photo? (Below.) Sure looks like it to me.
