I spent last week-end in La Clusaz, 2.5 hours drive from St Etienne, a Haute Savoie small village:
In winter (
http://www2.laclusaz.com/index.jsp?c=62922), La Clusaz is a ski resort, not really big, but a charming one, Edgar GROPIRON's hometown, triple moguls world champion, I think the most famous one.
And in Summer (
http://www.laclusaz08.com/index.php?lang=_uk) has many activities to offer, but 2 days was too short, so I've only visited the village and did a small trek.
La Clusaz doesn't produce only ski champions but cheese too, the local specialities is the Reblochon:
It stinks
but it's really good
(sorry this link is in French:
http://www.reblochon-fermier-aravis.com/fabrication.php, anyway these kind of cheeses have no chance to pass FDA controls!!!)
The tour begins on Saturday, a nice warm and sunny day
