Developer Rick Barrett's proposed Couture high-rise gained an endorsement from a city and county advisory commission, but the threat of a lawsuit still looms over the lakefront development.
Also this week, a Milwaukee shopping center anchored by Kohl's and Pick 'n Save sold this month.
For the $122 million Couture, the endorsement Thursday by the Lakefront Development Advisory Commission, or LDAC, is a step forward. However, Preserve Our Parks continues to argue state law would prevent the development, offering a new legal opinion to support its position on Thursday.
The LDAC group, on an 8-3 vote, recommended local governments approve the Couture development, partially because of the public spaces and new pedestrian bridges proposed for the building's lower levels.
