West boulevard bridge...los angeles

Hi guys and a good Monday to you all. I'm going to post a couple of new links for you to enjoy today. I did a couple of pieces on the West Boulevard Bridge which turned 80 years old in 2013. I grew up in the shadow of this bridge and never really knew a whole lot about it. However, when doing this piece and meeting with the historian who also appears, I was shocked to find out one major reason WHY this bridge was put in place. The West Boulevard Bridge is a bit of a rarity in that it is located in a relatively urban area of the city. Most of our major bridges are located downtown like the 6th Street and 7th Street Bridges which are very well known. This is one of my favorite pair of shows and I think you all will enjoy them as well. There are few historic photos in the piece (mostly show #2 if I recall), but these are good ones. I really love this bridge's architecture and the lighting is my favoite. BTW-Since this piece aired, a buddy of mine and I got that "Gumball" light under the bridge operational again. We're still pushing to have the lantern on the side of it replaced as well.
