First phase of Journal Squared residential project kicks off

The first phase of Journal Squared, a trio of residential towers in the works for Jersey City, broke ground Monday.
The 54-story tower at 615 Pavonia Avenue will contain 540 of the three-tower project’s planned 1,840 apartments. Upon completion, the development will span a total of 2.3 million square feet and contain a mix of retail, restaurants, lobbies and parking in the base of the three buildings. The tallest tower, at 70 stories, is on track to snag a Garden State record for its height.

Kushner plans 40-story tower on former Jersey Journal site

Kushner Companies and the KABR Group have released renderings for the planned conversation of the former Jersey City headquarters of the newspaper Jersey Journal. The property is slated to be turned into a 40-story tower holding 525 apartments.
The developer acquired the five-story, 101-square-foot building at 30 Journal Square in recent months, the blog New York Yimby reported.
A spokesperson for Kushner told The Real Deal that the building was purchased for $2.5 million.
Douglas Elliman served as the broker. The tower will step down toward the iconic structure, according to designs from architect Ismael Leyva.

Trust reveals plans for stalled twin Jersey City towers

A property trust has released updated renderings of a long-delayed project in Jersey City’s Journal Square neighborhood.
Multi-Employer Property Trust, associated with Washington, D.C.-based real estate firm Landon Butler, is developing the site at City Center, also known as One Journal Square. The original design by architectural firm Humphreys & Partners depicted twin 60-story buildings connected by a skybridge.
New renderings that YIMBY picked up, however, are more detailed and no longer show a walkway between the buildings.
Another developer was supposed to break ground on the development in 2007. But construction on the site was frozen by the economic downturn. The planned towers would house 1,500 residential units and 150,000 square feet of ground-floor retail, according to previous reports.
