^ on some buses, there are black red boxes with red optical sensors located at the 3 doors of the bus. I'm guessing they count all the movements past the box, they total it up and divide it by two to get the approx. riders?

I do recall the newspapers saying ridership on the 98 was 60,000 daily, but i'm wondering if they meant all three B-Lines (97, 98, 99) are 60,000.
