The continuation of Gardena appears between 1952 (below, left) and 1964 (below, right).
Godzilla showed us that the grade separation of the railroad and Los Feliz happened in 1957, so maybe Gardena was extended at the same time.

I was going to upload a wider view, but I think that the Tam O'Shanter appears in the bottom left corner of the aerial I posted.
