This seems to be a common impression and I'm not sure why. Anybody? Before I visited, I assumed it would be a sprawling brick city but it has a great core.
Denver has quite a few lovely old dense neighborhoods. CPVLIVE's thread on the Highland's neighborhood showcases a good example:
