Above: From a little farther south. The Vine Street School is at left--the corner building appears to be new in the photo below. Most
if not all of the school buildings in this shot appear to still be there, though heavily remodeled. (Was the small building on the corner
moved back and turned 90 degrees?)

In a shot over the roof of the corner Vine Street school addition--apparently taken from the roof of the DPW building--we can see
what must be the backlot of Metro Pictures.

Per the LAPL caption: "Six year old, Larry Caster, fell to his death on the hard asphalt pavement from one of the swings shown, Vine Street Elementary School. Photo shows seats now removed and chains tied up. Photo dated: May 11, 1951."

Were children never to swing again on Vine Street?
