Meanwhile London commuters have to stand for an hour on crowded tiny trains that have to fit through tiny 19th century tunnels. Nothing's perfect.

Although Wikipedia says there are 7000 level crossings in the UK and 15,000 in France. Seems like they're still pretty common in most countries.
