The Roosevelt is toast. The Landmarks Committee has repeatedly reviewed it, and found it to not be landmark-worthy. The interior was gutted. And the exterior wasn't found to be notable.
NYC has a crapload of big, old prewar hotels. There's no danger of them all disappearing, especially because so many are already landmarked.
