Whoa I have to admit I was not either...
but the middle part.. it kinda looks like cinderblock - is it being kept like that or is there gonna be another finish put on top..? I mean I get what they are going for - like the john and main building if it's being kept like that - but I feel that finish is always.. risky.. in that it can just look like cinderblock.. I think the part that's throwing me off is the part right under the cornice for the red brick - if the part in the middle is supposed to represent the building finishes looking like separate.. buildings.. and thus being like a divider.. then why is that design extended under the cornice? That part feels VERY out of place..
I am liking the embellishment on top though - a part of me has this feeling of relief.. that they didn't cheap out - as you know I was VERY concerned about how the end result was gonna look like.. but I like it - I feel, if they wrap it around to the front like this that it will complement the olympia club well - well it's not often we are pleasantly surprised!
I really like how the stone changes colour to match the cobalt blue/gunmetal grey coloured brick - I feel that was a nice touch. Still not sure how I feel about the middle part though.. hard to judge as it's being built - I'll reserve my judgements for the final result - still, some VERY interesting stuff! This should set a good precedent.
Those wet marks on the stone right below the water spouts right above the first floor windows is a bit worrisome though - I fear this will lead to erosion over time or just discoloration.. and it doesn't look like they kept the placements of them balanced on the blue part - one looks like its coming out of the "pillar" part and another right under the window.. I really don't know how to feel about these spouts - largely because I have never seen this done in our city before.. to my knowledge.. and of course they were done in ancient times and still in places like mexico... I just worry over time it is going to leave unsightly stain marks as the minerals in the water build up over time over the spill lines.. or slowly erode away..
