I took this picture yesterday, nice weather with good visibility. The view is from Fort Rosecrans National Cemetery at about 350 feet above sea level.
If there is any question as to why San Diego has a short skyline, half of the answer lies in front of you.
The airfield isn't SD's airport it's NAS North Island. Just out of frame to the left of NASNI and also along the bay is the airport on the north side of the bay.
