Federal and Provincial candidates do not have to live in the constituency to run. The Hamilton Mountain NDP candidate lives in Welland. A former Hamilton Mountain NDP MP Marion Dewar was the former Mayor of Ottawa and continued to live in Ottawa while representing Hamilton Mountain. Even provincially Donna Skelly was still living in Hamilton Mountain when she won her current seat in Flamborough.
