KUALA LUMPUR: Rosida Ismail has become the first Malaysian to land a job at the International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO) as an air transport officer, specialising in economic policy under the Air Transport Bureau in Montreal, Canada.

The permanent position was offered to her on April 19 after receiving an email and phone call from ICAO secretary-general Dr Fang Liu, expecting her to report for duty in early August.

She will also be responsible to coordinate and review the formulation of new and additional guidance on regulations of air transport to be implemented by all civil aviation authorities globally.

Prior to her new role, Rosida was the head of government, industry and corporate affairs cum special officer to managing director of Raya Airways Sdn Bhd.

Rosida was previously with the Malaysian Aviation Commission as aviation development senior manager, having involved in overseeing end-to-end regulatory licensing functions.

Rosida has over 15 years of experience in aero-political, aviation development and regulatory affairs at the national and international level with proven skills in expediting a wide spectrum of public affairs strategies, policies formulation as well as governments and partners engagement functions through her service as administrative and diplomatic officer since 2006.
