I doubt the decrease in the number of black Chicagoans is as bad as it had been made out to be given the numbers for the state are nowhere near where they'd been played up to be, but we should absolutely staunch the bleeding and continue to dismantle the systemic barriers that prevent black and brown households from partaking in the best the city has to offer.

A lot of black and brown households don't feel welcome or accepted in primarily white neighborhoods and will move out of state (ATL or TX) rather than move to the suburbs or historically white neighborhoods in the city. That's entirely attributable to this city's well documented history with segregation and subsequent covert approach to racism following desegregation.
