Quick summary, a group wants to found a Museum of Regional History in the Outaouais and they've identified 4 potential sites:
  1. E.B. Eddy Building at Eddy and Laurier at Zibi;
  2. The former Servantes-de-Jésus-Marie convent on the east side of Jacques Cartier Park, recently purchased by the NCC;
  3. Somewhere along the Montcalm Cultural Pole;
  4. Near St-James cemetery, the NCR's oldest, next to UQO.

As a temporary site, they are looking at La Maison Charon (also know as Maison des auteurs) in Jacques Cartier Park.

The preferred site is St-James cemetery as it would be a new build, while E.B. Eddy would require major renovations and present lots of uncertainties (purchase price and extent of the renovations).

My preference would be the E.B. Eddy building, but I understand the constraints. The old convent would also be an excellent spot, but it would bring tourists away from the heart of Hull. Pole Montcalm would make for a good synergy to the gallery that's also proposed across from the BDT and attract more people through Hull on their way to the area. I'm less enthused with St-James because it is out of the way however, the Tram Line (should that route be chosen) and the opening of PoW to pedestrians and cyclists could be a game changer.
