Trouble is, "futuristic" can age badly. 1950s "futuristic" tail fins on cars were a joke by the mid 1960s (although collectors now seek them out). Good design is timeless. The Seagrams tower was futuristic AND well designed. It has aged well. The 11th & Hill tower shown above is also a good modernist design. Hope that gets built. An ideal skyline should have a historical mix of old and new. Love the old as well as the new styles. In my opinion, the uniformly modernist/"futuristric" skylines (Dubai, Miami, Panama etc.) are boring. Chicago and New York with a mix of old and new, and L.A. somewhat (although the old stuff is mostly under 150') are more interesting. I also have fondness for retro designs, if well done. Would love to see a few "neo" art deco towers in L.A. or even a neo gothic or two at some point. If well done. Hopefully the covid recession or depression will end soon and the boom resume. One Great Depression is enough.
