The southbound counterflow, when it opened, expanded into its own, new lane.
Now, the fast lane flows directly into the counterflow (which is probably a better arrangement).
It can understandably be very confusing at highway speed for those who aren't familiar with the new layout, especially since the reflectors almost disappear completely in the rain.
