I can't say that I'm in love with the bland design (not exactly another Alexander), but maybe bland is good as a backdrop to the magnificent Cathedral. Most disappointing is that the existing "Twos" office building (222 N.17th) isn't going to be demoed as earlier site concepts suggested. It's really a crummy building inside and out. Hopefully an overhaul would happen at some point. I don't believe that the Archdiocese needs all of that space with various offices having already been spread around the five county area. Most exciting is the anticipated height of Phase II. That will look fantastic from Belmont Plateau, balancing the skyline a bit. Hopefully the design will not be another glass box (or parallelogram).
