I remember the Town Lake area looking so bleak and virtually devoid of trees back in 1969-70 when I briefly lived here. I could never have imagined the transformation of the riverfront area into the really lush and beautiful spot it has become. I remember back then thinking that Austin had "good bones" and might one day transform into a real city, but I never really factored Town Lake into that vision. Now it is one of the crown jewels.
