Kudos to the current owners, they have done invaluable work to shine up the Fort Garry after years of neglect. But it does seem as though they've hit a wall in the last 10-15 years. The place is not really improving anymore.
It will be interesting to see whether a deep pocketed buyer who can put in the money it would take to realize the Fort Garry's potential can get hold of it.

It would be good if someone like Fairmont would attempt to take over. They have a thing going with the old railway hotels across the country and all of those that I've ever been inside seem to be kept in impeccable condition. That said they still have their building on Portage. Perhaps some other major hotelier would want a crack. The Fort Garry is located quite well for tourists and business people alike. I could see it being hugely successful for any chain wanting to establish a true luxury hotel in Winnipeg.
