That's not how Michelin guide works. There is no comparison from one city to the other. It's not a tool for comparing whether Alinea is better than some other restaurant in NYC or LA. It's very explicit in it's purpose: a guide for diners who may not be familiar with the area they are travelling to. This is literally just a list of recommendations, it's not some ranking, it's an award.
