I'm curious as to what Nav system you are using.
I find the Nav systems that are built into vehicles are useless for giving ETA. Because they don't have live traffic data. So unless your builtin Nav system is connecting to the Internet while you drive. Then the ETA is pointless.
I use google maps and always use it even if I know the route. I've never had it off by more than 5 minutes. But the only reason it works is because it is constantly getting live traffic data from everyone else.
