Has anyone heard of Yachiyo? I take it that's the name of the restaurant (the restaurant appears to be the small shack-like building behind the larger building in the front.
The building at the end of the block appears to be a hotel. (there's a small sign)

I hadn't heard of Yachiyo,
e_r, but this c. 1952 image shows the same corner building in your photo on the NE corner of
N. San Pedro and Jackson Streets (Jackson was one block north of 1st Street). The three-story building down the block
seems to match the one in the UMC photo, and the two smaller buildings in between might be the same, too:
