The original may have tried to "integrate" but I don't think it had succeeded either. It had the pillars and a buttress with the same/similar stone, and I seem to recall some interior renders that had some stone (?), but it was still a pretty radical contrast.

I wonder if there is still left over stone from the demolished part of the church. Or did that vanish with Stanton Renaissance's hopes and dreams.


September 2014:
There's still a ton of stone on pallets behind the facade and the rubble was never hauled off. And I agree for the most part, it seems to be more elegant. Final product will come down to material choices, if they're on par with 101 Locke or 20/22 George I think it will look quite nice.
