But to the extent she can get police to respect the community more, and to the extent she can convince the community that the Mayor's office actually understands their concerns hand has real skin in the game (a daughter, in addition to herself), that can make a big difference in outlook.

The real issue is the extreme violence in the AA communities, literally 3rd world murder rates - AA's are not leaving because the police don't respect the community.
