Both parties have received donations from taxi companies. Usually the party in power has more luck in receiving donations (since they can make rules immediately). I don't even think the amounts are that important. It's more about the votes in certain ridings.

You can clearly see the money was flowing into the BC Liberals while they were in power.
More importantly, Uber started in 2009. I believe their temporary operation in Vancouver was setup in around 2012 before it was shut down, by the Liberals. They had all the time in the world to allow them to operate, under whatever rules they wanted to, but they didn't. This is 90% on them, and 10% on the NDP for dragging their heels about a year longer than they needed to.
