In photos or in person? I was there in Nov 2018 when Vista was ~7 floors shorter than it is now, and thought it looked shorter than what I had expected for a building that was probably around 1050 ft tall.

That may explain it. Back in Nov I saw Vista from just a couple of angles, which could have been ones that made it look short. I will be in Chicago again this coming April and will definitely look at Vista more closely. By then it will not only have topped out but also will have a lot more glass installed.
