I'm not sure if your semantics are off here, but Chicago has the 2nd largest CBD (NYC being the largest) in the country. As of March 2017, there were 168,000 more jobs downtown than in March 2010 which is a 16.6% growth (
https://www.chicagobusiness.com/arti...eak-in-decades). The population of downtown has also grown (comparing ACS to ACS) by over 25% since 2010. Not sure what you mean by this because it's already very big and growing very well.
