Unfair taxation is taxation without representation. These whiners have plenty of representation.
What's new is that beginning in 1970s the Republican party race-bated social programs, and this was later doubled-down on by the Clintons. No one associated taxes/social programs with any particular group until very recently. And that propaganda has been very effective indeed, however untrue and racist it is. That's why a lot of poor white folks don't even think of Medicare or Medicaid as social welfare programs, because they can't possibly imagine that they are on welfare given it's racial stigmatization.
