The field is being expanded from 32 to 48 for the 2026 World Cup - ~25% of FIFA countries will qualify.
Neither Canada qualifying automatically or not would surprise me at this point. I would rather Canada host a full tournament itself and qualify automatically than host a sliver of one and get in for free.
