"The Mini Vidhana Soudha building is being built at a cost of Rs 9.98 crore. Even the work on KSRTC bus stand is in the final stage. The bus stand is being built at a cost of Rs 10.7 crore and will be completed in 10 days," Rai said.
"The inspection bunglow at a cost of Rs 3 crores and MESCOM building at a cost of Rs 5.16 crore are also in the final stage of construction and will be completed soon. A 100-bed Bantwal taluk hospital at a cost of Rs 6.15 crore will be completed soon. The multi village drinking project costing Rs 34.95 crore to provide drinking water for 65 villages in Bantwal and water treatment plant of 24.16 MLD have got administrative approval from the government and foundation stone for these projects will be laid by chief minister Siddaramaiah.
"The government has sanctioned Rs 1.66 crore for the construction of Panje Mangesharaya Smaraka Bhavana. The total cost of the project is estimated at Rs 5 crore," he said.

The key to this may be soil, said Naveen Chandra whose doctoral research focussed on soil types and lightning. “When we looked at Karkala taluk (Udupi district), we found out that areas with iron ore composition, such as Kudremukh, attracted more lightning. As mining depleted this iron ore, lightning strikes reduced too, while areas of soil with high resistivity continued to get higher incidence of lightning strikes,” he said.
Working with K. Lokesh from National Institute of Technology-Surathkal, Mr. Chandra used a geophysical sensor to map the soil types in Karkala taluk in Udupi district.
