Or years ago when the Capital LRT extensions opened south of the University Station? Or when the AGA opened? I predict the same excitement a year from now when the new Royal Alberta Museum finally opens or when ICE District is finally completed.

I was away in the UK when Rogers Place opened, so I didn't really get a feel for the buzz at that time, and just happened to return the day Henday opened, so I have to admit bad timing may be part of the equation.
As to the other items, I don't recall as much buzz going on for days after any of those things opened, but they were all quite some time ago now.
Again, what sticks out for me is the vocal detraction to the positive press that a few people here have expressed, occurring at the same time as all the "yay a road opened" posts.
And then being told that somehow I live in an ivory tower because I feel like everyone should hope to enjoy more about their city than just a quick commute to work.
