Streets like this are never going to be Montmartre, but maybe they're not so bad if you approach them as vaguely Hong Kong-esque (i.e. sans in-your-face signage or AC units dotting buildings like bad acne, but providing an early signpost for the future pod-like existence we're heading toward).
