The original budget was $2.8 million but was raised to $6 million "To ensure an authentic architectural feature"...to qoute Manchester. The design is a collaborative effort between Manchester and the Waller Creek Conservancy. By upping the design, this could certainly be a signature development for the WCC as more development takes place along the creek. The quality of this particular project could set the bar for future projects which could end up benefitting the Fairmont in the long run, making it a more desirable place to stay. The first design was very meh. The ped bridge is only going to be part of what I imagine is going to be a very beautiful stretch of the creek as it winds passed the Fairmont. Perhaps some of the budget is going towards creekbed enhancements and lighting from below and along the creek. I'm glad his pockets were at least deep enoyugh for this upgade if not for staying on course for the original tower design.
Btw, construction of the infrastructure for the walkway is already underway.
