I also came across these pics that i had never seen before of the second Hotel Vancouver both under construction and demolition. No wonder the building was sinking unevenly, the size of those terracotta animal heads are huge! I also wonder if the 1946 earthquake contributed to it's subsidence issues. This building would have been a centrepiece if it were still around and would definitely upstage it's newer replacement. Too bad they didn't save any of the details.

The second Hotel Van was torn down due to near sightedness and greed. Nothing else.
