I've always felt when Oceanwide plaza was first introduced as LA Central that the portion of Staples Center that extends to the corner of Fig and Chick Hearn needed to be torn down. I don't know what the purpose of that corner of the arena is for but it looks underutilized and acts like a blank wall on Figeuroa. If AEG was going for a Times Square feel, the activity between LA Live and Oceanwide Plaza should be seamless and I think that corner of Staples should be an open plaza. With the arena still extending there, once Oceanwide and Circa are finished it'll look sort of like as if a building was smack dab in the middle of Times Square.
