Some of the previous tenant stores has been boarded up. A few remains.
the Panda king restaurant recently closed!

the bldg at 4th & broadway....which truly is a merdebox.....is getting closer & closer to being fully vacant & then hopefully it will be torn down ASAP.

just to make up for the burned out hulk that has been sitting across from that corner for over 7 yrs means that when groundbreaking does occur on the apt tower, it won't be one second too soon.

hunter's post has the first pics of the facade of one of palmer's apt bldgs across from the ace hotel & start of work on the giannini place bldg!

hard not to get excited when seeing all the bits & pieces of transformation slowly coming together.

this vid is from over a yr ago, but since it includes an interview of one of the owners of the many swapmeets that still make a mess of broadway....who's probably very similar to the struggling shopkeeper who ran the panda king.....it's a reminder that the landlord is ultimately responsible for making sure a bldg isn't a disgrace to dtla. But if more ppl would also stop shopping at those swapmeets, then one group wouldn't be able to so easily take advantage of the second group, who feeds off the third group.....which keeps the vicious cycle going on.
