Activity At Marriott Expo Center Site, Construction Permit Not Yet Pulled

Construction material has appeared on the site of the proposed Marriot Expo Center.
Construction permits have been applied for but haven’t been pulled yet, and developer MDM Group hasn’t closed on the land. An affiliate of Miami Worldcenter still owns the land.
The proposed project would become the largest hotel in Miami, with 1,800 rooms and 600,000-square feet of convention space.
Late last month, MDM said that they were aiming to have a $100 million subsidy deal for the project in place by the end of October. They said that the hotel would open by fall of 2018.
