Undergraduate Sciences Building:
This is a temporary name for the under construction building formerly titled as 455@Vine Speculative Office Building. I'm not really sure what the official name is? Most of the students in downtown's IQ District are graduate students, so this is different. It will be home to 350 undergraduate science students. Yes, the office space was leased by a university and will become classrooms. We could know more in January 2016? Construction on the project will be completed in January 2017, when students will move into the new classrooms. This is located in downtown's IQ District.
In January 2017, this one downtown block will have nearly 900 students, 243 apartments, 30 luxury condos, 4 office condos, the headquarters for The Variable ad agency, the headquarters for the Steel Erectors Association of America (SEAA), an art gallery, multiple below grade parking garages, a courtyard with retail/restaurant spaces, a landscaped elevated walking & bike path, and a fitness center. Yes, all of that in one downtown block! WOW! And it's all adaptive reuse projects! Most of that is already completed and in place.

E. G. Forrest Produce Warehouse:
A produce distribution company is rezoning their massive warehouse complex on the north end of downtown to "E" ...better known as "Entertainment Noise District" for loud music and entertainment uses at late night hours. Does anyone know if E. G. Forrest Produce Company is moving out of downtown and selling their valuable downtown properties to a developer? If the produce warehouse moves to another location in the city, this should dramatically reduce the number of 18-wheel trucks in the downtown area. A good question to ask: If the produce warehouse moves-out, what will happen to these buildings? I'm guessing someone or multiple developers have made an offer, since they are rezoning to a loud entertainment zoning use? Could this be the proposed amphitheatre? It's directly across from Ziggy's live music venue and the new Wise Man Brewing Company. I guess we will have to wait and see what happens?
A LARGER Ziggy's:
Ziggy's live music venue is looking for a site downtown to build a significantly larger live music and entertainment venue. Possibly two or three times larger! Could this project and the rezoning above be connected? Ziggy's would be an awesome anchor tenant in a massive development at the old produce warehouse site. Ziggy's is one of the oldest and most well-known live music venues in the southeast and a popular destination in downtown Winston-Salem.
Wake Forest School of Medicine:

Brookstown District @ BB&T Ballpark:
The city has passed an incentive agreement and now we are waiting on the county's approval. The first phase of the downtown mixed-use project will include 250 apartments, 50,000 square feet of retail, and a grocery store. The city agreed to offer incentives for this project in 2005, but never voted on it. This could be the last downtown project to receive city financial assistance? The city said incentives are no longer needed for downtown development.
Kimpton's The Cardinal Hotel & Residences:
Exciting update from Standard & Custom on the decorative screen for the new restaurant. We also have news on the opening date: According to Kimpton Hotels & Restaurants' website, this hotel will open in Spring 2016. Last week, Tom Riley spoke on some of the issues causing delays.
