I work in the geosciences (geologist), and dealing with project managers (man in white shirt), its not that they are a holes, but its the stress that they have. If one of the employees (in this case the operator), fucks up, then he could be in deep trouble. Even if somebody gets injured, OSHA can be nasty. But in general, construction or remediation, anytime there's men involved, lots of shouting and curse words.
But, the work does get finished at the end of the day.
I've operated an excavator before (670G LC), and they can be quite a thrill. Although the one at the site has those lame environmental blades, not the saw toothed ones.
