If that stretch had been built properly, there'd be less need for the markings (maybe not
no need, but
less need). Check it out next time you're headed upbound through there. The road curves to the right, on a nice, smooth arc. Then suddenly near Pritchard Rd, there's a jut to the right, and the road seems straighter. A short distance later, another jut to the right, and the old arc resumes. Basically it's like travelling the edge of a circle with a straight line short-cutting to hack off some of the distance. And this is also where traffic merges in from Mud St. Quite dangerous at night.
