By my count there are over 5,000 hotel rooms in various stages of development in Downtown Austin. This list only includes what most people consider to be "Downtown proper". There are more boutique hotels in development adjacent to Downtown, in the SoCo area and east of I-35 for example. There are also hundreds, if not thousands, in development all around Austin and the suburbs. Three of the projects don't have publicly announced room counts, so I conservatively estimated them at 300 each based on similar projects.
