Fifth and West:
Quote:
It seems strange to call a major development in Austin uncontroversial, but it looks like a proposed 39-story tower at Fifth and West streets just might be.
City Council is set to weigh in on Austin-based Riverside Resources' proposed high-rise residential tower at Fifth and West streets at its upcoming May 22 meeting. So far the project looks like it won't face much opposition.
The planned tower at 718 W. Fifth St. would bring a 162-unit, 430-foot-tall tower to the current home of the Texas Press Association. But before it can be built, the small lot requires that the city approve a floor-to-area ratio increase of 20-to-1. Without waivers, a developer could build up to a 15-1 ratio at that site.
