You would not see any cars turning right currently as it’s been a continuation of westbound traffic on Santa Monica as far back as I know.
There’s similar lanes for eastbound traffic on the other side of the track area.

Same area now:




Val's Coffee Shop was listed at 8875 Santa Monica Blvd in the 1951 phone book, the NE corner of San Vicente (building replaced)... and given its smaller individual and delicately framed windows and the rosettes, the current building couldn't be the one with the PE car and the Cadillac...
