That's a pretty good comparison picture. I have walked along that stretch of the East River, and the hike and bike trails of Austin, and I'm compelled to say I hope we don't "Manhatten" our Austin. I don't mind tall buildngs lining the lakeside as long as they are spaced far enough apart. But lakeside is not the place for density imo.
Btw, I know you weren't being suggestive about Manhattan, just comparatively speaking.
One thing I did enjoy about the East River was boat and yacht spotting.

I understand General. I love how Austin is spreading it's towers to where it's not to close, but close enough to where you have an amazing skyline. I also like the fact that urban density is playing a big roll in Austin right now, weather it be a 5 story building or a 40 story tower.
